Atma Jaya Debating Club (ADC) is the most competitive Student Activity Unit in Atma Jaya Catholic University. Founded in the midst of turbulent period of 1998-1999, during Indonesia’s transition from authoritarian regime toward democracy, by four enthusiastic female students, ADC has since consistently operated in the spirit of free speech and critical thinking. As a rule of thumb, ADC serves as the medium in which members interact with each other to advance their skill of logical analysis in regards to current national and international issues covering social, economic, technology, and legal controversies as well as ability to deliver verbal argumentation in a parliamentary debate platform (Asian, Australasian, and British parliamentary system).
Most of the activities in ADC revolve around training programs which culminate in the participation in numerous English debate competitions on regional, national, and international level. In the beginning of every academic year, ADC offers chances for all students of Atma Jaya to apply for Entrance Test and Interview session to gain membership in the club.
